Judith L. Leatherman, 78, of Norwich, KS, a former Broomfield resident, died Friday, October 25, 2024 at Wheatland Healthcare Center, Kingman, KS.

Judy was born on December 22, 1945 at Perryton, Texas to Par vin Neal Hooper and Lenora Mae (Selby) Hooper. She grew up in Perryton where she attended the local schools. She graduated from Perryton High School with the class of 1963. She continued her education at Northwest Oklahoma State University, Alva, OK.

Judy was united in marriage to Larry Lee Leatherman on June 12, 1964 at Perryton, TX.

They made their first home in Alva before moving to Garber. Five years later they moved to Ponca City, OK where Judy worked as an elementary school secretary, middle school secretary and later high school secretary. They moved to Broomfield, CO 24 years later in 1995 and to Norwich, KS on June 7, 2015.

Judy loved the mountains, and her dream was realized when she and Larry moved to Colorado. She was an avid flower gardener and loved her birds and collecting bird houses. You could often find her giving treats to her beloved mini-donkey, pygmy goats, sheep, horses, dogs and cats.

Judy loved her grandkids so much; they brought the biggest smiles to her face. She spent her free time decorating her home, especially for the holidays.

Some of the family's favorite memories were her homemade eggnog, rum cake and lasagna at Christmas time. They loved to watch her laugh until she had tears running done her face. She will be missed.

Judy was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Wayne Hooper.

Judy is survived by her husband Larry Leatherman; one son Christopher Leatherman and wife Kylee of Lawrence, KS; one daughter Keri Liddeke and husband Duane of Norwich, KS; four grandchildren: Alex Frost, Robert Leatherman, Kash and Kruce Liddeke; two great grandchildren: Miles and Maren and a number of other relatives and friends.
