As a four-year power conference player and a key contributor to an NCAA Tournament team last year, Andrej Jakimovski had plenty of options when he entered the transfer portal nearly a year ago.

Ultimately, Jakimovski chose Colorado for his fifth and final season of college basketball.

Jakimovski hasn’t shot the ball the way he expected. And certainly the team hasn’t won as much as anyone wanted. But Jakimovski has expressed no regrets, and his final appearance at the CU Events Center on Saturday against TCU will be the 150th game of his collegiate career.

Jakimovski will be honored during Senior Day ceremonies alongside fellow graduate transfer Trevor Baskin, four-year guards Julian Hammond III and Javon Ruffin, plus walk-on Jack Pease. After practice Friday, head coach Tad Boyle said Hammond will play against TCU, but his minutes might still be limited due to the back injury that kept Hammond out of Wednesday’s loss at No. 9 Texas Tech.

“I’m glad I came here for the experience,” said Jakimovski, who spent the previous four years as a rival of the Buffs at Washington State

. “I knew the coaches are great, the team is great. Obviously we went through a rough stretch. Once you go through that stretch it’s hard to get out. But we won some games. We had some good games against UConn, we beat Baylor at home. I’m just trying to look at the positives and learn from the negatives, but I don’t regret it at all. I’m happy I went here, and I think the coaches helped me a lot to improve my game and I think that’s going to help me in the future.”The stretch run of Jakimovski’s career has been brightened by a visit from his father, Orce, who has been in Boulder for several weeks. Due to visa issues while trying to travel from the family’s home in North Macedonia, Orce was never able to visit his son during his four years at Washington State.

It has been a hot-and-cold season for Jakimovski, who posted a .343 3-point percentage in four seasons at Washington State but takes a .319 mark into the regular season finale. But his father was in the stands for one of Jakimovski’s best Big 12 performances, as he went 5-for-9 on 3-pointers with 17 points and seven rebounds in a win against Baylor on Feb. 22. And his father will be able to participate in the Senior Day festivities Saturday.

“It means a lot to have my dad here, and for him everything is new,” Jakimovski said. “He’s been enjoying his time. We got a win in front of him and that was kind of a good feeling. It’s a complicated process to get here, but he was able to make it and experience this. Hopefully we can get one more win for him as well, and for me, the team, for the fans. I think it’s going to be a good day.”

While the Buffs are locked into the last seed at next week’s Big 12 tournament regardless of Saturday’s result, TCU is locked in a crowded race for a top-eight finish. The top four finishers receive double-byes into the quarterfinals, while seeds five through eight get a single bye into the second round. TCU enters the final day of the regular season in a three-way tie for seventh alongside West Virginia and Kansas State. If the Horned Frogs finish ninth, they’ll see the Buffs again on Tuesday.
