A Clarkston man accused of damaging large stained-glass windows at Oakland University’s Meadow Brook Hall has been referred for a competency evaluation.
At a court hearing Tuesday, 52-3 District Judge Laura Polizzi ordered the testing for Caleb Punches, 24.
Punches is charged with malicious destruction of a building $1,000 — $20,000 — a felony — and breaking and entering/illegal entry — a misdemeanor. Officials believe he’s responsible for damaging two of Meadow Brook’s stained-glass windows on Feb. 4. The windows were original to the historic 1929 structure — the former home of Oakland University founder Matilda Dodge Wilson.
Punches, arraigned on April 1, was released from custody on a $10,000 personal bond, which requires no cash or surety to be posted. A July 22 review hearing before Polizzi is scheduled for the competency evaluation.
