It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Bettye McLeod-Kortus, who passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025 at the age of 91.

She was born on March 12, 1933, in St. Paul, MN. She grew up in the Rondo neighborhood and after living in New York, New Jersey, and Detroit, she returned to her hometown of St. Paul, Minnesota. She was a dedicated and loving wife to her late husband Donald V. Kortus and a devoted mother to her children, Frank LC McLeod, Shawn McLeod (Dan) and Sheri McLeod. She was also a devoted stepmother to 10 stepchildren, Steven Kortus (Teresa), Richard Kortus (Rebecca), Lee-Ann Mjolsness (Larry), Diane Kortus (Vic), Danny Kortus (Jody), the late Karen Kortus- Blackbird (John-deceased), Tommy Kortus (Sue), Jimmy Kortus (Nikki), Donna Neihart (Lee) and Trisha Schlingman (Jack).

Bettye Kortus lived a fulfilling life and was a woman of many talents. She had a passion for singing, dancing, and casino slots. She also loved playing golf and bowling. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and word finds in her free time.

Bettye Kortus was a kind and generous soul, always thinking of others. Her love and compassion extended to all those who knew her, and she will be remembered for her infectious smile and loving heart.

She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, and a plethora of greatgrandchildren, who will miss her dearly.

A memorial service is to be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at St. John Evangelist Episcopal Church, 60 North Kent Street, St. Paul, MN 55102 with gathering 10:30-11am, service 11am-2pm which includes repast/ reception at St. John Evangelist Episcopal Church. She will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling, with a family only ceremony.
