


Kaysha Love wins monobob world championship
LAKE PLACID, N.Y. >> Barely two years ago, Kaysha Love was finishing somewhere around last place in what would best be described as minor bobsled races.
She’s now the world monobob champion.
Love’s meteoric rise to the top of her sport is now complete, after finishing a victory in the women’s monobob — meaning just one person in the sled — world title race at Mount Van Hoevenberg on Sunday.
Love’s four-run time over two days was 3 minutes, 57.82 seconds. Laura Nolte of Germany, the 2023 and 2024 world monobob champion, was second in 3:58.26, and Elana Meyers Taylor of the U.S. was third in 3:58.31.
DU tops CC to end regular season; teams meet again Friday in Frozen Faceoff
A day after securing the Gold Pan series with a 4-1 home win at No. 20 Colorado College, the No. 7 Denver Pioneers traveled to Colorado Springs on Saturday night to defeat the Tigers 4-3 in the final regular-season game. DU and CC will face each other again Friday at Magness Arena for Game 1 of an NCHC Frozen Faceoff quarterfinal series.Game 2 will be Saturday at 6 p.m., and, if necessary, Game 3 will be Sunday at 6 p.m.
Pioneers’ Jack Devine and James Reeder each scored a goal and an assist in the win. Reeder also scored a goal and an assist in Friday’s win. Devine now has 100 career assists.
The Tigers scored two goals within two minutes of one another in the third period by Zaccharya Wisdom and Owen Beckner to narrow DU’s lead.
Denver goaltender Matt Davis saved 32 shots Saturday, including 25 in the third period. CC goalie Kaidan Mbereko made 31 saves.
Pacers’ Siakam fined $25K for confronting officials
NEW YORK>> The NBA fined Indiana Pacers forward Pascal Siakam $25,000 on Sunday for how he confronted and used profane language to game officials.
NBA head of basketball operations Joe Dumars announced the fine Sunday night for the incident Saturday in Indiana’s 120-118 loss to Atlanta.
Garcia wins LIV Hong Kong
HONG KONG>> Sergio Garcia made an early eagle to pull ahead and then produced four straight birdies around the turn, closing with a 7-under 63 for a three-shot victory over Dean Burmester at LIV Golf Hong Kong.
Burmester shot a 62, while 54-year-old Phil Mickelson had a 64 and finished alone in third place, four shots behind. Mickelson had his best finish in the Saudi-funded league.
Alker wins in playoff
TUCSON, Ariz.>> Steven Alker won the Cologuard Classic for his ninth PGA Tour Champions title, beating Long Island club pro Jason Caron with a 12-foot birdie putt on the first hole of a playoff at La Paloma Country Club.
Alker and Caron each shot 5-under 66 to finish at 12-under 201.
N.C. State fires Keatts
RALEIGH, N.C.>> N.C. State fired men’s basketball coach Kevin Keatts on Sunday, an abrupt end to an eight-year tenure coming less than a year after the Wolfpack’s improbable run to the Atlantic Coast Conference championship and the Final Four.
The school announced the move a day after the Wolfpack closed a 12-19 season.
