The Colorado Rapids are going back to their source: water.

Or their Headwaters, if you will, which is the nickname for their 2025 away kit, revealed on Friday morning.

For much of its recent history, the club’s branding has been dependent on the mountains that draw so many to the state. Even the logo includes a summit, but nothing close to water — aside from the sky blue shade.

When Rapids director of creative and branding Jordan Rothrock sat down with his team two years ago — that’s how far in advance Adidas wants teams’ jersey designs — nearly everyone in the room arrived with the same idea: “It’s time for rapids.” The real, whitewater ones.

On a Halo Mint shirt, a depiction of a foaming river flows down to the waist with the words “Colorado Rapids” seen faintly with their own watery typeface underneath the sponsor. Near the neck, two angled lines that arrive below the armpits make out a faint outline of the club’s shield-shaped logo.

On the bottom corner, two oars cross each other — an ode to the Centennial 38 supporters group. It’s C38 tradition to custom paint an oar before each home match and give it to the team’s Man of the Match afterward.

The rest of the kit features almost the same colors on the shorts and socks, the latter a more onyx color, according to Rothrock.

Lastly, for the first time on a Rapids jersey, the alternate logo is used — a Colorado-flag style “C” with a soccer ball. It’s another detail Rothrock and his crew thought was overdue.

The Rapids teased the kit with multiple videos on social media depicting a lime green kayak strapped to a truck heading to a river, shots of whitewater waves and liquid puns.

Friday’s jersey launch kicks off the club’s week-long season kickoff pop-up at The Banshee House in Denver. From Feb. 14 to 22, further information pending, the club will host events like player appearances and a 4v4 futsal tournament.
