Law enforcement announced an arrest stemming from a unique traffic stop on June 30, according to a Facebook post from the Woodland Police Department.

On Monday at approximately 9:50 p.m., a Woodland Police Officer stopped a bicyclist near Cannery Road and Industrial Way for riding without a light at night.

During the stop, officers learned the rider —38-year-old Rudy Gonzales of Woodland — was on searchable probation and had a prior violent felony conviction. A firearm and multiple magazines were observed in Gonzales’s unzipped backpack.

Officers also located a controlled substance in his shoes and drug paraphernalia in his pocket. As a result, Gonzales was arrested and booked into Yolo County Jail for multiple weapons violations and drug-related charges.
