Spring is in the air again, with Detroit Tigers pitchers and catchers reporting to TigerTown in Lakeland on Wednesday.

The Tigers won’t have a full-strength roster to start things, as the team released a medical update on some key players.

Notably, shortstop Javier Báez is dealing with a right-hip labral repair and is completing full hitting and defensive drills. The medical report notes that he will “continue to progress his return to play running progression upon his arrival to camp.”

Newly acquired starting pitcher Alex Cobb has right hip inflammation and he received a PRP injection in January to address the issue. According to the Tigers, the inflammation came as Cobb was “building his throwing volume for spring training” and he’ll work on daily rehab.According to Tigers manager AJ Hinch, Cobb won’t start the season on time and could be about a month behind due to the issues.

Pitcher Wilmer Flores has right shoulder inflammation and he received a PRP injection for soreness in his right shoulder. The team report indicates that he’ll “complete daily rehab.”
