



Sepp Straka shot a 4-under 66 and Shane Lowry had a 67 in blustery conditions Saturday to share the lead heading into the final round of the Truist Championship.
Straka started the round two strokes behind and offset his only bogey with five birdies — two in the final four holes — and made a clutch par putt from 16 1/2 feet at the 18th on the Philadelphia Cricket Club’s Wissahickon Course to finish at 14 under.
Lowry moved into a tie for the lead by matching Straka’s birdie on the downwind 489-yard, par-4 17th and will be paired with the 32-year-old Austrian on Sunday in the final round.
Keith Mitchell, the leader after 18 and 36 holes, labored through a round of 1 over. He was 11 under with Justin Thomas, who charged up the leaderboard.
Thitkul reclaims lead at Americas Open
Jeeno Thitikul handled a strong wind and a double bogey at the turn by making nine birdies for a 7-under 65 that gave her a one-shot lead over Celine Boutier going into the final round of the Mizuho Americas Open.
Defending champion Nelly Korda missed a pair of birdie opportunities on the back nine at Liberty National and settled for a 68, leaving her only two shots behind as the No. 1 player in women’s golf goes for her first win of the year.
Thitikul, the No. 2 player in women’s golf, birdied the reachable par-4 16th with water down the right side, picked up another birdie on the 17th and finished at 14-under 202.
Young takes lead at Myrtle Beach Classic
Carson Young holed a 30-yard flop shot for eagle on the par-5 15th and shot a 7-under 64 in rainy conditions Saturday to take the third-round lead in his home-state Myrtle Beach Classic.
Young, the 30-year-old former Clemson player from Anderson, South Carolina, had a 13-under 200 total at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club.
Harry Higgs was a stroke back after a 68.
The winner of the event — held opposite the Truist Championship — gets a spot in the PGA Championship if not already eligible.

East Ridge’s Tomes commits to U of M
The Gophers men’s basketball program picked up an in-state commitment as its first pledge in the 2026 class.
Cedric Tomes, a 6-foot guard from East Ridge High School, choose to stay home at the U over offers from Iowa State, Oklahoma, Drake, Northern Iowa and Bryant.
Tomes, a three-star recruit, averaged 27.3 points and made more than 40% shooting from 3-point range last season.
Tomes was offered a scholarship under former coach Ben Johnson and that offer remained under new coach Niko Medved. Assistant coach Dave Thorson was recruiting Tomes under both head coaches.

Saints rebound, defeat visiting Buffalo 2-1
The Saints rebounded from Friday night’s 17-3 pastings at the hands of visiting Buffalo to defeat the Bisons 2-1 at CHS Field.
The Saints were held to just one hit through six innings, but rallied to take the lead for good on Emmanuel Rodriguez’s two-run homer in the seventh.
St. Paul made the one-run advantage hold despite logging three hits in the game.
Reliever Alex Speas earned the win with two innings of scoreless work that included extinguishing a bases-loaded threat in the top of the seventh before St. Paul rallied for the victory in the bottom of the frame.
Tyler Beede followed Speas with a scoreless ninth to earn his first save of the season and finish off his team’s win.
The Saints and Bisons play once more today, with first pitch scheduled for 2:07 p.m.

Canada opens Worlds by blanking Slovenia
Canada opened the ice hockey world championship by shutting out newcomer Slovenia 4-0.
Bo Horvat scored two power-play goals, Nathan MacKinnon had a goal and two assists and Noah Dobson also scored on a power play. Dylan Garand made 11 saves for Canada.

Michigan tops UCLA to win Big Ten title again
Jenissa Conway drove in the first run with a double in the top of the sixth inning and Lauren Derkowski and Erin Hoehn combined on a three-hitter as the eighth-seeded Michigan Wolverines completed an improbable run to the Big Ten Tournament championship with a 2-0 victory over the second-seeded UCLA Bruins.
It was Michigan’s second straight Big Ten tourney title and its 12th overall.

Chelsea women win WSL with unbeaten record
Chelsea became the first team to complete an undefeated 22-game campaign in the Women’s Super League after beating Liverpool 1-0 thanks to a stoppage-time goal by Aggie Beever-Jones in the final round.
Already crowned champion, Chelsea finished with 60 points — 12 more than second-place Arsenal — after 19 wins and three draws.
Bayern Munich wins Bundesliga crown
Bayern Munich celebrated the Bundesliga title it won last weekend by beating Borussia Mönchengladbach 2-0 in Thomas Müller’s last home game for the club.
Michael Olise scored one goal and set up the other for Harry Kane’s league-leading 25th of the season to get the party underway in Munich. Bayern was to be presented with the Bundesliga trophy after the game.

Sinner returns to court with Italian Open win
Top-ranked Jannik Sinner has made a solid return from his three-month doping ban by beating 99th-ranked Mariano Navone 6-3, 6-4 at the Italian Open.
It was Sinner’s first match since he won his third Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in January.
There weren’t too many signs of rust and it didn’t take long for Sinner to start crushing his groundstrokes on or near the lines.
Iga Swiatek lost to Danielle Collins 6-1, 7-5.
