A man was arrested in Loveland on Wednesday in connection to a multi-jurisdictional crime spree which had ranged from Boulder County south to Westminster.

Kevin Aguirre, 31, is being held on suspicion of two counts of second-degree burglary; two counts of second-degree motor vehicle theft; two counts of vehicular eluding; first-degree trespass; theft — between $1,000 to $2,000; reckless driving; criminal mischief — between $5,000 and $20,000; criminal mischief — between $2,000 and $5,000; obstructing a peace officer; failure to appear warrants for motor vehicle theft; and a failure to comply warrant.

According to a news release, the spree began Feb. 25, when Aguirre reportedly stole a vehicle near O’Neal Circle in Boulder and was later arrested at 30th Street and Baseline Road.

Officials said a judge gave him a $10,000 bond but that he was released from custody four days later after posting $1,000.

On Sunday, about a week and a half later, Aguirre reportedly committed a burglary in Longmont and stole another car, according to the release. That night, officers said they spotted the stolen car and attempted to stop him, but that Aguirre eluded them.

According to the release, Aguirre reportedly burglarized a home on Bluff Street on Tuesday in Boulder and stole a third vehicle after ditching the stolen car from Longmont.

Officials said they spotted Aguirre Wednesday morning in the latest stolen car, but that he “again refused to stop, driving recklessly and risking the safety of many community members.”

Boulder Police Department’s Special Enforcement Unit coordinated with several nearby auto theft task force agencies and successfully tracked Aguirre. Police said during the incident, he was seen driving recklessly, attempting to maneuver around civilian vehicles even when no officers were nearby.

At one point, Aguirre pulled into a parking lot near 136th Avenue and Interstate 25 in Westminster and attempted to steal another vehicle, according to the release, however, officers intervened and prevented the theft.

Aguirre then fled the area in a previously stolen car and eluded officers.

“(Aguirre) was taken into custody in Loveland a short time later after striking multiple police vehicles,” the release reads. “Fortunately, no officers were injured during the operation.”

He is set for filing of charges Tuesday and is being held in custody at the Boulder County Jail on a $200,000 bond.

“I’m proud of the work our special enforcement unit officers did investigating and coordinating with our regional policing partners to safely take this repeat criminal into custody despite the multiple ways he threatened the safety of numerous community members across Boulder and the metro area,” said Boulder Police Chief Stephen Redfearn.
