Colorado has landed a big-time recruit for the 2026 class.
On Tuesday, Preston Ashley, a four-star defensive back from Brandon, Miss., announced his verbal commitment to the Buffs and head coach Deion Sanders.
Earlier this month, Ashley named CU, Florida and Florida State as his top three choices. According to 247Sports.com, he has 24 scholarship offers, including from Auburn, Georgia Tech, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, Texas A&M and UCLA. The 6-foot, 185-pound Ashley visited the Buffs this past weekend.
Ranked by 247Sports as a top-10 player in Mississippi, Ashley recorded 68 tackles, three tackles for loss, an interception and five passes defended last year as a junior. During his prep career, he has 168 tackles and two interceptions.
Ashley is the third player to commit to CU for the 2026 class, joining edge Domata Peko Jr. (Ventura College) and tight end Gavin Mueller (South Elgin, Ill.).
