A Pontiac man is facing several criminal charges in connection with a shooting outside an apartment complex which injured one person.

Timothy Suave Williams, 36, is charged with assault with intent to murder, firearms possession by a prohibited person, and two counts of felony firearm for the April 18 incident outside the Newman Court Apartments.

The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office said the female victim sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

The shooting was witnessed by several people, including children, the prosecutor’s office said

The injured woman and Williams were previously involved in a dating relationship, the prosecutor’s office said. Williams, who turned himself in on April 24, is one of the arrestees Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard highlighted during a news conference Monday afternoon about last week’s sweep of nearly 40 alleged criminals.

“Gun violence like we see in this case is an epidemic that affects communities like Pontiac on an almost daily basis,” Prosecutor Karen McDonald stated in a news release. “We have a victim hospitalized and children fleeing from a gunfight in their neighborhood. Pontiac deserves better and we will aggressively prosecute anyone who endangers residents with senseless violence.”

Assault with intent to murder is punishable by up to life in prison.
