A motorcyclist died Sunday afternoon in a crash in the Santa Cruz Mountains near La Honda.

The crash happened on Skyline Boulevard, part of State Route 35, just north of Page Mill Road. The unidentified person is an approximately 36-year-old male, said Officer Sophie Lu, a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol division in Redwood City.

It appeared to be a solo crash with no other vehicles involved.

“At the moment, we don’t see any debris in the roadway” to suggest another driver at the scene, Lu said.

The cause of the crash was under investigation. There was no immediate information on the make and model of the motorcycle.

The crash temporarily closed both northbound and southbound lanes of Skyline Boulevard. Details were hard to come by initially, due to the lack of phone reception in the area.

The stretch of road is in a scenic area on the ridge of the Santa Cruz Mountains, near the Monte Bello Open Space Preserve and the Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve.
