Colorado State outscored Air Force by 20 points in the second half en route to a 77-55 victory over the Falcons at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs on Tuesday.

CSU led 28-26 at halftime before outscoring the Falcons 49-29 in the final 20 minutes to improve to 19-9 overall and 13-4 in the Mountain West Conference.

Kyan Evans led four Rams in double figures with 20 points. Jalen Lake added 15, Jaylen Crocker-Johnson 13 and Nique Clifford 11.

The Rams used a 7-0 run early in the second half to begin to pull away. They took a 40-30 lead on a 3-pointer by Bowen Born with 15:23 remaining in the game and didn’t let the Falcons get closer than five points the remainder of the contest.

With just under 10 minutes left, the Rams went up 50-40 and began to pull away. From there, they outscored the Falcons 27-15, taking their largest lead of 22 points on a layup by Clifford with 22 seconds left.

CSU shot 62% from the field in the second half to Air Force’s 45%

The Rams struggled in the first half, shooting only 39% from the field while the Falcons kept the game close. CSU trailed by five early and the teams traded the lead for much of the first 20 minutes.

With 3:15 remaining until halftime, a free throw by Ethan Morton gave CSU a 22-21 lead and the Rams never trailed again. CSU’s largest lead of the first half was only five points (26-21) and it didn’t come until Lake made a 3-pointer with 2:11 left in the first half.

The Falcons were then able to cut the CSU lead to two at the break.

Clifford, the Rams’ leading scorer only had four points in the first half. Lake led the team with 10 points in the first 20 minutes.

Fortunately, the Rams heated up in the second half to pull away for the victory.

CSU will be back in action Saturday when the Rams host Utah State at 2 p.m. at Moby Arena.
