“We are again reminded that here we have no abiding City. It has pleased the Lord in His Infinite Wisdom to call from our midst Lavergne Marie Hansen Basich at the age of 95 years.”

Lavergne was known for her warmth and loving kindness, quick wit and comedic timing and above all, her faithfulness to Christ. She lived a Christ-centered life, all of her life.

Lavergne was born November 26, 1929 in Elkhart, Indiana. She grew up in Chicago, Illinois, from age 6. On Sunday morning, February 9, 2025, she entered eternal life peacefully at her home in Roseville, MN. Lavergne was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Pastor Thomas Lee Basich; her parents, Ray and Elizabeth Hansen; brother, John and sister, Dorothy. She is survived by her daughters, Lynn Basich and Anne (Douglas) Frutiger; sons, Mark (Yoko), Michael (Cheryl) and Pastor Matthew (Michelle); grandchildren, Daniel (Andrea), Samuel (Katie) and Lauren; Alexandra Kingsbury (Zane) Luke, Lei; great-grandchildren, Colson, Kaia, Arabella, Emerson and Baby Boy Basich expected in March; and many nieces and nephews. Lavergne attended Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BA in American Studies. From the age of 14, she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and sang in church choirs. For 42 years Lavergne served as an election judge in Ramsey County. Above all, she cherished her family, as wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law and aunt. She blessed the lives of all who encountered her. She faithfully served the Lord alongside her late husband from 1951-2011. Together, they were called to establish Advent Lutheran Church in Roseville in 1953. Lavergne has served Advent for over 71 years.

The funeral will be held at 11 AM Saturday, February 15, 2025 at ADVENT LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3000 Hamline Ave. N., Roseville, MN with visitation at the church 1 hour prior to the service. A luncheon will be served immediately following the service at the church with a graveside Committal Service and burial afterward at Roselawn Cemetery, 803 Larpenteur Ave. W, Roseville, MN.
