Scotts Valley High senior Maisey Chard, a fourth-year player and medalist at the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League individual championship after helping the Falcons win the league title, was named the SCCAL Player of the Year.

Harbor’s Jessica Davidovich was chosen Coach of the Year by her peers.

Over eight six-hole matches, Chard recorded a 29.25 scoring average and was medalist four times. Her lowest score was 24 (1-over par at DeLaveaga Golf Course). She finished league play with six birdies and nine pars, 17 bogeys, and 16 doubles or worse.

“If I had to pick two things that impressed me the most about Maisey, I’d say she’s a very mature golfer, with a great and consistent swing, and a super cool and collected temper,” Falcons coach Anders Ohlsson said. “She doesn’t let a blow-up hole get to her at all. She’s always enjoying herself and joking around with teammates and opponents.”

Chard dominated the 18-hole SCCAL Tournament and earned medalist honors with a score of 82 at DeLaveaga on Oct. 29. She had three birdies, five pars and 10 bogeys or worse.

Chard was joined on the all-SCCAL first team by junior teammate Lauren Ohlsson, who was also medalist in four matches and had a 30.0 scoring average.

At the Central Coast Section Championships at Laguna Seca Golf Ranch, Ohlsson shot a 100, and Chard shot 101.San Lorenzo Valley senior Reagan Atkinson, Aptos junior Emily Fassio, Soquel sophomore Joey Burgos, and Harbor freshman Olivia Strusis-Bregante rounded out the first team.
