Franciscan Health announces job fairs

Franciscan Health Crown Point, Dyer, Michigan City, Munster and Olympia Fields, Illinois, in partnership with Franciscan Physician Network and Specialty Physicians of Illinois, are conducting job recruitment fairs, according to a release.

Positions are available in clinical and non-clinical settings, including hospitals, Franciscan Physician Network and Specialty Physicians of Illinois practices, home health, hospice and the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), the release said.

No appointments are necessary and participants should bring their resumes and other supporting documents, the release said. For specific times and dates, visit jobs.franciscanhealth.org. Bailly Academy instructor honored at STEM forum

The Center for Excellence in Leadership of Learning recently hosted a STEM Cadree Educator Preparation Programs (EPP) Forum at the University of Indianapolis, according to a release.

Gary Community School Corp. STEM Coach Anna Swope, who teaches at Bailly STEM Academy in Gary, was one of the presenters. Swope was acknowledged for her “incredible contributions” by Stephanie Waring, STEM Project Manager of Five Star Technology Solutions, the release said.

Leap into Heart Health program coming soon

Northwest Health is marking American Heart Month and the 2024 leap year with its Leap into Heart Health educational email series, according to a release. People who sign up will receive emails designed to help improve heart health.

The Leap into Heart Health email series will be delivered to inboxes every other day in February with a short article and heart health tips you can try right away, the release said. The series also includes warnings about symptoms that may indicate you should see a doctor, especially high blood pressure, high cholesterol and genetic predisposition to heart disease.

Healthy U event upcoming in Valpo

To learn how to build a robust immune system, join Dr. Chike Okolocha as he leads Northwest Health’s next free HealthyU wellness seminar, “Five Actionable Steps to Boost Your Immune System,” from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Jan. 24 in the Community Room at Northwest Health — Porter, 85 E. U.S. 6 in Valparaiso.

During the presentation, according to a release, Okolocha will share actionable steps to help you fight infection, viruses and other illnesses during colder months.

Northwest Health adds weight loss services

Northwest Health has expanded its clinical weight loss program into the Medical Plaza adjacent to Northwest Health — Porter hospital, 85 E. US. 6 in Valparaiso, according to a release.

The program, which is currently offered in LaPorte and Michigan City, begins with a free information seminar where patients can learn about their options and decide if they are candidates for medical weight loss or bariatric weight loss surgery, the release said. The seminars are offered once a month and an online version of the seminar is available on demand.
