Salinas
Kurt Walter Brux, 81, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025, at his home in Salinas, California, just two days shy of his 82nd birthday. Born on February 26, 1943, in Seattle, Washington, Kurt lived a life dedicated to community, service, and advocacy. He loved sailing, bike riding, dancing, socializing, and engaging with people from all walks of life.
At 17, Kurt enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving as a Corporal (E-4). After his service, he worked in agriculture in Salinas before moving with his first wife and children to Orcas Island. Returning to Salinas, he founded Salinas Tractor and Equipment Repair and later transitioned to substance abuse counseling, working at Soledad Prison, Sun Street Centers, and the Veterans Transition Center.
Kurt is survived by his wife, Patti Fashing; sons, Kurt Brux (Gwein) and Travis Brux (Fatima); grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Michael Brux; parents, Wilfred and Eileen Brux (Harry); brother, Bob Brux; and first wife, Linda Brux.
Aviewing will be held on March 14, 2025, at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Rd. in Salinas, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Acelebration of Kurt’s life will be held at alater date.
