Former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka has announced that she’s no longer working with coach Wim Fissette.

Osaka had expressed frustration with her recent results after a second-round exit at the U.S. Open just over two weeks ago.

The 26-year-old Osaka won two of her four Grand Slam titles while working with the Belgian coach. Those were the 2020 U.S. Open and the 2021 Australian Open.

It’s the second time Osaka and Fissette have parted ways.

US beats Germany to secure top spot in Davis Cup Finals group >> The United States topped its group and ensured it will be seeded in the last eight of the Davis Cup Finals by beating Germany 2-1.

Both teams were unbeaten and already into the Finals but knew that victory would secure a seeding in Malaga and a quarterfinal against one of the runner’s up from the three other groups taking place in Manchester, Bologna and Valencia this week.

The U.S. swiftly ensured it would be them, winning both singles matches in Zhuhai, China.

Ferrari’s Leclerc, who won the last race in Italy, was fastest by .321 seconds from McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, and the second Ferrari of Carlos Sainz Jr. was third. Pole marked a dramatic turnaround for Leclerc, who crashed in the first practice session.

Manchester United snap losing streak >> Manchester United won at Southampton to end its two-game losing streak.

Marcus Rashford snapped a 12-game barren run in front of goal. Rashford doubled United’s lead at Saint Mary’s after Matthijs de Ligt’s scored his first for the club.

Substitute Alejandro Garnacho scored a third in the sixth minute of stoppage time.

Rashford hadn’t scored since March in United’s win over Liverpool in the FA Cup quarterfinals

Retiring Navas gives Sevilla its first La Liga win at age 38 >> Jesus Navas rifled in a powerful shot from a tight angle to give Sevilla its first victory in the Spanish league after edging Getafe 1-0 at home.

The 38-year-old wing back won the European Championship with Spain this summer, adding to his 2010 World Cup. Afterwards, he announced he was retiring from international soccer and he would likewise retire from club competition at the end of 2024.

Cavs’ Okoro signs extension >> Restricted free agent forward Isaac Okoro has agreed to re-sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers on a three-year contract.

The fifth overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft, Okoro is Cleveland’s best perimeter defender, often drawing the assignment of guarding the opponent’s top scorer.

The 23-year-old averaged 9.4 points and 3.0 rebounds in 69 games last season.
