KANSAS CITY, Mo. >> The two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs are acquiring three-time All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans, replenishing a position group that has been ravaged by injuries, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

The Chiefs are sending a conditional fifth-round pick to the Titans, according to NFL Network, while Tennessee is taking on some of Hopkins’ salary. That was an important point for the Chiefs, who have very little salary cap space.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid declined to acknowledge the trade before practice Wednesday, saying only that general manager Brett Veach was “dealing with all of that.” When pressed about the trade, Reid said with a slight smile: “I know nothing.”

Former Jets coach Saleh monitoring Packers’ offense >> Former New York Jets coach Robert Saleh was back on an NFL practice field Wednesday helping out the Green Bay Packers two weeks after getting fired from his old job.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Saleh, whose primary background is on defense, will be monitoring Green Bay’s offense. LaFleur said Saleh would remain with the Packers through Thursday.

LaFleur was noncommittal about how much Saleh might assist the Packers in this informal role the rest of the season. LaFleur said on multiple occasions that the situation is “pretty fluid.”

“I just think it’s a good opportunity, I mean, for him to learn and also for him to help us and give us perspective on how teams might see us, how they might defend us,” LaFleur said.

Bucs place wide receiver Chris Godwin on injured reserve>> The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have placed wide receiver Chris Godwin, who leads the NFL in receptions, on injured reserve with an ankle injury that will require surgery.

Godwin dislocated his left ankle during the final minute of Monday night’s 41-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. He likely will miss the remainder of the season, although coach Todd Bowles said there’s a chance the four-time, 1,000-yard receiver could return during the playoffs if Tampa Bay plays deep into January.

Jets’ Rodgers dealing with ailing hamstring>> New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is dealing with a hamstring injury on top of a knee issue, but is expected to play Sunday at New England. The 40-year-old Rodgers was listed as limited for the team’s walkthrough Wednesday.

Lions say they’re prepared to play without WR Jameson Williams>> Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell says the team is prepared to play without receiver Jameson Williams.

“I’m not really supposed to talk about it,” Campbell said.

Williams is facing a two-game suspension for violating the league’s performance-enhancing substance policy, ESPN reported.
