The University of Colorado Boulder announced a $15 million donation on Thursday from alum, philanthropist and real estate entrepreneur Michael Klump to promote real estate education on campus.

It is one of the largest gifts ever received by a real estate program in the United States, according to a release.

“I owe a lot of my success to attending the University of Colorado, where I had the privilege of meeting inspiring individuals and forming lifelong connections across the country,” Klump said in the release. “These experiences have deeply motivated me to give back and set an example. I hope my contribution to CU Boulder will inspire others to join in the spirit of generosity and make a meaningful impact.”

Of the $15 million donation, $13 million will strengthen industry partnerships, career support and academics at the Michael A. Klump Center for Real Estate, formerly the CU Real Estate Center. The University of Colorado Board of Regents approved the name change on Thursday.

The remaining $2 million will support programs in the College of Arts and Sciences that promote CU Boulder students’ mental health and well-being.

The real estate center is part of the Leeds School of Business. Klump is the founder and chairman of RCG Ventures and has over 33 years of experience in commercial real estate.

“This gift is pivotal for CU’s real estate program, providing significant resources that will advance the center’s leadership, enhance student programming and offer student financial assistance,” Real Estate Center Executive Director Julie Gibson said in the release. “The endowment component of this gift ensures that CU’s dedication to real estate education will continue for many generations to come.”
