SANTA CRUZ >> Station design will be the focus of an upcoming public meeting the Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission will host as part of its ongoing effort to spread information about its Zero Emission Passenger Rail and Trail project.
The hybrid meeting has been planned for 6-7:15 p.m. Tuesday with viewing options available via Zoom at hdrinc.zoom.us/j/99161913341 or in person within the commission’s Oak Conference Room at 1101 Pacific Ave., Suite 250, in Santa Cruz.
The passenger rail project team plans to share three conceptual designs that seek to balance aesthetic appeal with practical station features and cohesive systemwide identity, according to a release from the local agency.
Spanish interpretation will be available on Zoom and, like other informational sessions, the meeting will be recorded and eventually posted on the project website.
The meeting comes more than a month after the commission released its draft Zero Emission Passenger Rail and Trail project concept report, which proposed nine potential station locations based on ridership demand and access. The potential route has an end-to-end runtime of 45 minutes, but planners noted that each station that gets added to the route would increase this service time by approximately two minutes.
The commission will continue its public engagement efforts in August with a series of virtual and in-person community events and open houses in addition to one-on-one office hours that are available by appointment. Additional information about these meetings is available on the project’s website at sccrtc.org/zeprt.
