Here’s who made the all-state teams

Led by Daily Camera girls basketball player of the year, Alexandra Eschmeyer of Peak to Peak, and Longmont Times-Call winner, Savannah Pohl of Longmont, 17 players from the Boulder, Broomfield and Longmont area were named to CHSAA’s all-state team.

Eschmeyer (23.5 points per game, 13.1 rebounds, 4.8 blocks), a junior, and Holy Family guard Essynce Contreraz (11.5 ppg, 4.6 assists), a senior, were the only two area kids who made a first team — both in the 4A classification.

Contreraz and senior second-teamer Julia Hodell (7.7 ppg, 4.6 steals) led the Tigers over Eschmeyer, honorable-mention teammate Megan Wagner (10.8 ppg, 6 rpg) and the Pumas in the quarterfinals. Their repeat championship bid eventually came up just short, falling to 4A player of the year Brihanna Crittendon and Riverdale Ridge in the finals.

Elsewhere, Legacy junior Olivia Mortensen and Mead junior Darby Haley were the only others from the area named to a second team.

Mortensen made it in the 6A classification after posting this ridiculous season stats line: 22.1 points, 13.8 rebounds and 3.3 steals.

Haley (11.3 ppg), meanwhile, was at her best in the 5A postseason, where she scored a career-high 25 points in a dramatic comeback win over Mountain View in the round of 16. She led the Mavericks to the semifinals along with help from senior teammate, Gianna Wurth (9.6 ppg), who was named an honorable mention.

Frederick had two honorable mentions in 5A — Zoe Wittler (12.2 ppg) and Gabby Jima (10.2 ppg) — after reaching the program’s first quarterfinals in at least 25 years.

Pohl (12.1 ppg, 7.3 rpg), Silver Creek’s Izzy Spagnoletti (16.3 ppg) also made the 5A HM list.

Honorable mentions in 6A also included Broomfield’s Olivia Kim (11.7 ppg), Erie’s Maddie Hartel (13.3 ppg) and Monarch’s 6-foot-2 freshman standout, Sienna Williams (16 ppg, 10 rpg, 4.2 bpg).

Elsa Nygren (10.4 ppg, 7.4 rpg) made the HM list in 4A. Prospect Ridge’s Kayah Robbins (15.7 ppg, 12.1 rpg) was named to it in 3A and Twin Peaks’ Ella Schauer (11.6 ppg, 8.7 rpg) in 2A.
