The Frost have added their first new player for the 2025-26 season.

Sidney Morin, a blue liner from Minnetonka who played the PWHL’s first two seasons in Boston with the Fleet, has signed a two-year standard player contract with the Frost, the team said Friday.

“Our staff had identified Sidney Morin as a top target heading into the signing period,” Frost general manager Melissa Caruso said in a statement. “She’s a reliable defender whose work ethic and offensive abilities will complement our D-core perfectly.”

Morin, 30, was initially selected by the Frost in the ninth round (49th overall) in the league’s inaugural draft and signed with Boston out of training camp. She was the NCAA defensive player of the year at Minnesota Duluth in 2016-17 and played in all 62 of Boston’s regular-season and playoff games, scoring four goals among 12 points.

Morin also was a member of the Professional Hockey Federation’s Minnesota Whitecaps and the 2018 U.S. Olympic team that won a gold medal in 2018.

The Frost have won the PWHL’s first two Walter Cup championships.

“I am super excited to be coming home and playing for the Minnesota Frost,” Morin said in a statement. “This is where my love for the game began, and to now have the chance to represent this city and these fans is truly special. I am looking forward to being surrounded by talented teammates and joining the whole organization.”

The signing fills one of the holes left when expansion Vancouver signed away defenders Sophie Jacques and Claire Thompson during the exclusive free-agent period. Morin joins a roster with ten other players under contract for next season, blue liners Lee Stecklein and Natalie Buchbinder.

The Frost will have six picks in Tuesday’s PWHL Draft, which starts Tuesday at 6 p.m. CDT in Ottawa. The draft will be available for streaming in the U.S. on the league’s YouTube channel.
