Cordell “Dell” Bleiler, born in Boston MA to mother Marvinna “Sunny” Bleiler and father Henry Bleiler.
He grew up in Roslindale, a suburb of Boston, where he attended Boston Trade School. He spent summers at the family summer home on Herring Pond on Cape Cod where he became a long-distance swimmer and trophy fisherman.
He graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in engineering. He joined the Naval Reserves, but never overcame seasickness. He met the true love of his life, Lorrie Saunders, while working at Raytheon and was smitten from the very first. They married in 1959. They bought a new 1960 Corvette and began their sightseeing adventure across the country, ending up in Los Altos CA.
He was an aeronautical engineer who spent time in Cape Canaveral as well Japan working on spacecraft design.
He worked in Silicon Valley at both Lockheed and Westinghouse.
Dell joined the Freemasons in college and was a dedicated member of the organization throughout his life, becoming a two-time master of the Mountain View lodge, master of the Los Altos lodge, amember of the Scottish Right and supporter of the Eastern Star. He was a WWI and WWII buff and a voracious reader of anything military.
Dell was always willing to help anyone in need anonymously while staying in the background, never seeking recognition. He was gregarious, had diverse interests and was always up for a good conversation.
In his later years Dell moved to his dream house in Penn Valley CA overlooking Lake Wildwood with a panoramic view of the high Sierras.
Dell passed away peacefully in his sleep. He is survived by his sister Nancy Nelson, brother-in-law Bob Blofeld, his niece Amy Nelson and nephews Scott and Glenn Nelson and their families. He was an endlessly caring and fascinating person and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
