


Verve celebrates Pride with benefit drink
To celebrate Pride Month in June, Verve Coffee Roasters is offering a new seasonal beverage. The Blueberry Matcha Cold Foam Latte, available at all California locations for a limited time, features iced matcha topped with blueberry cold foam. Verve is donating 100% of proceeds from sales of this product to Equality California (eqca.org), the country’s largest statewide LGBTQ+ civil rights organization.

Daily lunch service returns to Shadowbrook

News from Ashby Confections
Ashby Confections (16C Victor Square, ashbyconfections.com) is offering its version of the viral Dubai chocolate bar. Owner Jennifer Ashby’s kids inspired her to create this new treat, which she is very proud of. “We make our own pistachio cream rather than buying ready-made, so ours is more natural and cleaner,” says Ashby. “There are no green dyes, preservatives, additives or extra sugars.” Ashby makes all of her chocolates and candies by hand, including top-selling Fresh Fruit Sour Strips.
The shop’s hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. You can also find Ashby Confections at the Cabrillo College Farmers Market in Aptos from 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday.
In the future, Ashby will close its Scotts Valley location and move to 1207 Pacific Ave. in downtown Santa Cruz, next to Pacific Cookie Co. The opening date has not been announced; stay in the loop on Instagram @ashbyconfections.

Menu addition at Café Cruz
Café Cruz, at 2621 41st Ave., recently launched a Tuesday lunch special. The chilaquiles burger on a brioche bun is available during lunch hours only: 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Ingredients include a house-ground beef patty, pepper jack and mozzarella cheese, roasted jalapeño, pickled onions and “salsa verde chilaquiles” (with housemade tortilla chips and a Glaum Ranch egg done “your way”). Accompanied by a choice of four sides including fries, it costs $22.
