Marin teams went 6-0 against out-of-county opposition in the North Coast Section quarterfinals on Saturday, advancing to Wednesday’s semifinals and booking a spot in the upcoming NorCal playoffs in the process.
Marin Catholic, Branson, Redwood, Tam and Marin Academy all won home games while San Domenico went on the road to earn a victory. Archie Williams also defeated Terra Linda in an all-MCAL quarterfinal to advance on Saturday.
Branson 3, American 0
Sadie Snipes had a game-high 15 kills as the top-seeded Bulls cruised past American, 25-9, 25-15, 25-12 in the Division II playoffs. Setter Logan Tusher had another triple double with 14 kills, 12 digs and 21 assists. Celia Tolmie added 10 kills, 15 assists and five aces.
Branson (25-5) is set to host No. 4 Campolindo at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night.
Redwood 3, Maria Carrillo 0
Freshman Madeleine Wagner had 13 kills on 17 swings and had 10 digs for No. 2 Redwood during a 25-12, 25-19, 25-9 victory in the D-II playoffs. Katelyn Sicklick hit .750, Neave Cleary added 19 assists and Ella Moran had 12 digs.
Mayson Weingart also helped Redwood establish a defensive presence at the net. “She came in and got some awesome block touches on the right side,” Redwood coach Jake Spain said.
The Giants (27-6) are set to host No. 3 Windsor in an intriguing semifinal at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Windsor swept Redwood 3-0 earlier in the season before the Giants bounced back with a 2-0 tournament win against the Jaguars later in the season.
Marin Catholic 3, James Logan 0
The No. 3 Wildcats cruised to a 25-15, 25-13, 25-17 win in the D-I playoffs. MC (21-8) hits the road for a 7 p.m. Wednesday tilt against No. 2 San Ramon Valley, which defeated Archie Williams but lost to Redwood this season.
Izzy Adam paced MC on Saturday with 12 kills. Grace Basso added 10 kills and Mia Clayton had nine. Savannah Ellison led four Wildcats in double-digit digs with 19. Adam had 16, Sierra Ellison had 12 and Lilian Englert added 10. Rania Brody had 36 assists and seven digs.
Tam 3, Albany 0
Emmeline Sandgren opened the third set with three aces and ended it — and the match — with a thunderous kill in Tam’s 25-19, 25-19, 27-25 win in the D-III playoffs.
Sandgren piled up 31 assists, four kills and four aces for the top-seeded Red-tailed Hawks, who are seeking the first section title in program history. Tam (23-9) hosts No. 4 Acalanes in a semifinal at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Natalie Stanford had 11 kills and five blocks. Reese Murphy had five kills and three blocks. Annie Payne had 12 digs and two aces.
Marin Academy 3, St. Patrick-St. Vincent 1
Kate Lane, Greta Borland and Ellie Corsello all posted double-digit kills as the Wildcats got extended to four sets before closing out a 25-17, 25-19, 17-25, 25-15 victory in the D-IV playoffs.
Lane paced the team with 14 kills, Corsello added 11 and Borland had 10. Borland also added five aces. Kirsten Wang had 36 digs.
No. 3 Marin Academy (19-15) travels to face No. 2 Justin-Siena at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
San Domenico 3, North Hills Christian 0
The fifth-seeded Panthers went to Napa and sprung the upset, sweeping to a 25-23, 25-22, 25-16 victory in the D-VI playoffs. San Domenico (6-21) moves on to face No. 1 St. Bernard’s of Eureka at 7 p.m., Wednesday.
Olivia Williams had 12 kills, three aces and three blocks. Marin Louie had 15 assists, five aces and five kills. Mira LaConte had eight aces and four kills and Carly Morris added six aces and seven assists.
