Anthony Joseph de Angelis was born at Doctor's Hospital in New York City on June 2, 1956 to Nancy Carolyn Harrison de Angelis and Nicholas Joseph de Angelis. He graduated from Lycée Français, and, subsequently, Columbia University with mathematics and physics his primary areas of study.
He spent much of his career as a computer programmer, working in both the private and public sectors. He retired from the University of Colorado.
Tony was an avid reader of many topics: mathematics, physics, navigation, history, science, classical literature, wooden boats, animation and beyond. His near-daily studies of mathematics filled voluminous notebooks with formulas and proofs.
Also an artist, any paper towel, napkin or piece of paper lying nearby was likely to be filled with a combination of sketches and formulas.
A reserved man, Tony could quietly unleash wry observations at unexpected moments to the amusement of others.
Tony was preceded in death by cat Bella/Peepers/Peeps.
He is survived by his partner of 45 years, Lois Dahnke, and cat Jacques/Scooter/Scoots.
He is also survived by several cousins and by Lois' extended family to whom he was a beloved brother and uncle.
At Tony's request, no service will be held. If you wish to make a contribution in Tony's memory, he chose any animal welfare or environmental protection organization as recipients.
