To the Editor:
I have been reading in the paper about the deer population being high because we are seeing more and more of them and they're getting closer to the human population.
Stop and think. Maybe the reason is there is no place to hide and eat and live that hasn't turned into a parking lot or new housing. Trees are cut down for lumber and logs and poles. They needed these places for protection and food. If they had more woods to go to eat and live there would be a lot less of them hit by cars and less people hurt.
People don't remember that deer and all the other creatures, wild and domestic, were here long before people. As a matter of fact, some of these creatures and mostly deer kept people from starving and in clothing. And this is the way we're paying them back.
If you were hungry and looking for a place to eat and sleep, wouldn't you do things that you were not accustom to?
It seems that making money is more important than their survival.
