Medina Township Police
April 14 – Police were called about a domestic situation occurring inside of a moving vehicle on Medina Road near Gateway Drive at 1:53 a.m. Police arrived and reported the victim had been driving her boyfriend home when he allegedly started assaulting her. She got out of the car and went to another car for help. The boyfriend then jumped into the driver’s seat of the vehicle he was in and purposely backed into the vehicle behind him before leaving the scene, police reported. Charges against the boyfriend are pending, including felonious assault, felony theft of a vehicle, stopping after an accident, driving under OVI suspension and failure to reinstate a license.
Medina Police
April 24 – A juvenile male was arrested for misdemeanor assault at a Bronson Street address at 11:10 p.m.
April 24 – Police responded to a traffic complaint of a male passed out behind the wheel of a Toyota Scion in the area of Public Square at 8:07 p.m. An officer stopped the driver and administered sobriety tests. Kip R. Erwin, 36, of Alber Drive, was arrested and charged with OVI.
April 24 – A Northland Drive resident called police to complain about their newspaper continually being stolen.
April 24 – An anonymous tip led police to locating a male with a felony warrant out of Summit County. Bradley R. Nixon, 32, of Norton, was arrested at an East Washington Street address and transported to the custody of Summit at 2:50 p.m.
April 24 – A rental truck was reported stolen from a West Smith Road business at 9:54 a.m. The offense is a felony.
April 24 – Someone brought a rabbit that had been hit by a car to the fire station on West Reagan Parkway at 8:19 a.m. An officer responded and dispatched the rabbit with a .22-caliber rifle.
April 24 – Police and paramedics responded to a possible drug overdose at a West Liberty Street business at 7:26 a.m.
April 23 – Police responded to a West Homestead Street address in reference to an ongoing custody battle at 9:36 p.m. Gina R. Lungaro, 28, of Harding Street, was arrested for assault and criminal damage.
April 23 – A male was reportedly attempting to commit suicide by ingesting pills. He fled prior to police arrival and was located down the street. He was transported to the hospital for an evaluation.
April 23 – An 8-year-old boy with autism ran away from his grandmother’s residence. Police located the boy a few minutes later.
April 22 – Eric J. Brainard, 38, of Wadsworth Road, was arrested for domestic violence at 7:24 p.m.
April 21 – A Bar Harbor Boulevard man called police regarding previously-documented unwanted telecommunications from his ex-wife at 4:08 p.m. A warrant was issued for the ex-wife after she sent him another email.
April 21 – Police responded to a possible drug overdose at an East Reagan Parkway address at 2:02 p.m.
Montville Township Police
April 11 – Police approached someone parked at Ralph Waite Elementary School who was dropping their granddaughter off at 8:55 a.m. They were having a battery/alternator problem with their vehicle. They advised a family member was coming to pick them up and the vehicle would be temporarily left in the lot that morning.
April 11 – A report was taken for a female with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the hand.
April 11 – A Montville Trails Drive male stated his ex-girlfriend and her friend broke the screen and window fan in his bedroom window and then took off in a dark gray Ford Fusion. Police reported attempts would be made to locate the suspects.
April 10 – Police warned a 16-year-old about a parking violation on Turnberry Drive, as well as for trespassing on the train trestle.
April 10 – A Hidden Acres Drive complainant sent $5,000 to an unknown person in exchange for a business opportunity. The opportunity turned out to be a scam. The complainant can no longer reach the unknown person and he has not received anything in exchange for his $5,000 payment.
April 10 – A Wadsworth Road resident reported receiving unwanted texts from an unknown male.
April 10 – Someone reported a construction zone on Wooster Pike Road was set up in a confusing way. An officer checked on the placement of orange cones and traffic flaggers and the zone was re-organized to eliminate confusion.
April 9 – Police spoke with a driver on I-71 southbound for not using a turn signal while changing lanes. The driver was reportedly found to be in possession of khat (a controlled substance). The driver was issued a warning for the traffic violation and for possession of khat. The khat was seized and entered into evidence.
April 9 – A terminally ill cancer patient was being transported from Florida to Ohio, but passed away while en route somewhere on I-71. Police met with the driver and wife of the patient and advised they needed a coroner to respond. The family physician agreed to sign off on the death certificate and no coroner would be needed.
April 9 – A driver hit a deer on River Styx Road. Police followed the driver to make sure the vehicle made it home safely.
April 8 – An officer responded to a noise complaint on Wilmington Drive. The officer advised the residents to keep the noise down, but noted the noise was not excessive on arrival.
April 8 – Teenagers were playing basketball on courts at HG Blake Elementary School. Police advised them vehicles are not permitted on the playground to illuminate the court.
April 7 – Dispatch received a call of a possible intoxicated male leaving a Sharon Copley Road church. The caller knew the individual and described the vehicle. The vehicle reportedly made a wide turn onto Wadsworth Road from Sharon Copley Road crossing the fog line. The driver reportedly had a moderate odor of alcohol emitting from his person. He was placed under arrest and he was transported back to the police department to submit a breath test, which reported a .208 BAC.
Medina Township Police
April 20 – Police were called to a Medina Road business in reference to an abandoned and wrecked van in the the parking lot that had been there for about three months. Tags were expired and attempts were made to contact the 19-year-old male owner, but were unsuccessful. The vehicle was towed.
April 15 – Police were called to a motor vehicle accident with possible injuries on Nichols Road at 10:55 p.m. On arrival, officers found the driver was uninjured and refusing medical treatment. Observations of the driver allegedly showed signs of impairment and field sobriety tests were administered. Dorothia M. Petrow, 44, of Hood Road, was arrested for OVI, more than twice the legal limit.
April 15 – Police were called to a Pearl Road business at 8:18 p.m. in reference to a shoplifter. Cheryl L. Phillips, 43, of Brunswick, was issued a summons for theft after allegedly being caught with over $400 in merchandise.
April 14 – Police took a report at a Pearl Road business after a van was broken into and a purse stolen at 7:41 p.m.
