John Luther Casto, 81 of Eastview Kentucky, passed away Nov. 16, 2016 in Wooster after a brief illness.
He was born July 21, 1935, in Jackson County West Virginia, he was the sixth child of the late Walter Gay Casto and Virginia Alice Westfall.
He grew up on a farm a few minutes from Ripley surrounded by farm animals and beautiful landscape. He moved to Cleveland after high school. He was a member of UAW 1005, retiring from the General Motors Corporation Parma facility March 1, 1985 with 30 of service.
He was a 27 year resident of Brunswick before constructing the family home in Eastview and returning to farming.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elva “Pauline” Grady; three children and their spouses John W. and Debra Casto of Lodi, Laura and Jon Halliwell of Creston, and Tammy of Eastview; a brother Herman Casto of New Cumberland; grandchildren, Daniel McKay, Samuel Casto, Caleb Halliwell, Zachary Casto, and Parker Casto; great-grandchildren, Brady McKay and Hayden McKay. Brother-law, Hillery Turner; Sisters-in-law, Dorothy Grady, Mary Kerns, and Jacqueline Casto. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by brothers, Wilson Casto, Charles Casto, Ralph Casto; sisters, Florence Marie Lupardus, Edith Kerns, Martha Jane Casto; and granddaughter, Rebecca Casto.
A private funeral service was held Nov. 17, at Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Brunswick, with Pastor Jim Copenhaver officiating.
