WADSWORTH - After witnessing customers save money on electric costs over the last six years, the city has chosen to renew its contract with Efficiency Smart.

Through this contract, Wadsworth residents and businesses have access to services including rebates for energy efficient products and discounts on energy efficient lighting and a free electric meter loan service for residential customers.

Small to mid-sized businesses with annual electric usage of less than 500,000 kilowatt hours can receive rebates for implementing common energy efficiency measures. Large businesses and organizations that use more than 500,000 kilowatt hours of electricity annually are eligible for tailored services with dedicated account management, customized financial incentives and technical assistance.

The city first began partnering with Efficiency Smart in 2011. Since that time, customers in Wadsworth have saved more than 12,700 megawatt hours of electricity, which has saved customers a collective $1.07 million annually. The expected savings of all of the energy efficient products installed is more than $13.8 million over the lifetime of the products.

"Efficiency Smart has proved to be a value added service for our residents and businesses," said Mayor Robin Laubaugh. "We are proud to continue offering energy efficiency services that will help our customers reduce their expenses and save money for many years to come."

"Wadsworth is a great partner and we are excited to have an opportunity to continue to provide energy efficiency services for the city," said Everett Woodel, executive director of Efficiency Smart. "The city has shown a commitment to energy efficiency, which is a very cost effective way that communities can reduce their customers' electric bills, reduce transmission and distribution costs and contribute to local economic development. We look forward to another successful contract in Wadsworth."

A new feature is a website launched by Efficiency Smart that features a community-specific web page for the electric and communication customers within the city.

Customers can visit www.efficiencysmart.org/wadsworth-ohio to learn more about services and financial incentives available to them and to view news, promotions and upcoming events within the community.
