Mabel M. Skeens

Mabel M. Skeens, 91, of Medina, passed away Jan. 27, 2017. She was born in Cumberland, Md. on Aug. 13, 1925 to the late Ard and Lillie M. (Flanagan) Crossland, the second youngest of 10 children.
Mabel retired from the Singer Sewing Machine Co. with 39 years of service, and was an excellent seamstress. She was also a phenomenal golfer, earning two holes-in-one and holding the club championship for three straight years at Glen Arven Country Club in Thomasville, Ga.
Mabel is survived by beloved daughter, Cheryl G. Skrabec; loving granddaughter, Kimberly Ann (Joseph) Obringer; and her dear great-grandchildren, Brynne and Ryan Obringer.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Newman L. Skeens; son-in-law, Kenneth A. Skrabec; and all of her siblings. Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Medina County, 5075 Windfall Road, Medina OH 44256. Waite and Son Funeral Home handled arrangements.
