NORTH ROYALTON - City officials say they are pleased to see the highly visible, vacant former restaurant and banquet hall Tonight Tonight has been put on the market for sale or lease.

The building, located at 7375 Royalton Road, reopened in late 2007 and stayed open only a short time after operating for years in the '90s and closing. The property is listed on LoopNet for $995,000 and is said to be 5,130 square feet, constructed in 1988. It lists the rental rate as "negotiable."

Cresco Real Estate is the broker.

When it was in business, the restaurant was on the upscale side featuring contemporary American cuisine and a pianist. Many have hoped through the years it would reopen once more and provide another dining option in a city that has several bar and grills but very few restaurants. In fact, every year in The North Royalton Post's council look ahead story, Ward 4 Councilman Paul Marnecheck routinely mentions Tonight Tonight and his desire to see it revamped.

"I'm ecstatic to see the for sale sign, because I hope this is a first step in the rebirth of Tonight Tonight, and I would be happy to be the first reservation for Valentine's Day 2018," he said.

The site lies in Ward 5 Councilwoman Cheryl Hannan's ward.

"One of my goals as councilwoman is to attract new businesses to our city, so I was especially encouraged to learn that Tonight Tonight has been put on the market for sale or lease," she said. "I look forward to working with business and community leaders to facilitate productive use of this property in the heart of North Royalton."

Council President Larry Antoskiewicz, a Ward 5 resident, agrees.

"I hope the owners are serious and aggressive about trying to sell it, so it can be put to good use," he said. "It's one of those buildings that is right in the center of town that we would love to have a tenant for."

The city regularly fields calls from interested tenants and buyers and forwards them to the owner, so officials are pleased to see the unique space formally being put on the market for redevelopment.

"It's a very visible site that is the entry to our town center district. We will work with the purchasers to make it an attractive and successful enterprise," Community Development Director Tom Jordan said. "This is the first serious effort to sell the property by listing it with a broker in the past 10 years."

Jordan said there is a very low vacancy rate in the city, but this is the second most noticeable next to the empty former Rego's grocery store at Timber Ridge Plaza.

"Both are very large spaces and when you have that large of space, it's a very small group that can use them and that's the issue," he said. "With Tonight Tonight being marketed, we are hopeful it will find a new owner or tenant that will fill the space shortly. We will continue to work with Timber Ridge and its owner to try and market it and find end users that will fit today's market."

Mayor Bob Stefanik said Tonight Tonight looks promising.

"Long-time residents will remember how successful Tonight Tonight was back in the '90s. With the location and with the right tenant and business plan, we could see another successful venture."

He hopes the same will be true of Timber Ridge one day.

"We have tried in the past to work with the owners of Timber Ridge Plaza, even bringing them prospective tenants, but for some reason at the end of the day, they could not strike a deal," he said.
