STRONGSVILLE – A male was apprehended in Cleveland following a high speed pursuit that began in Strongsville at 11:55 p.m. on Feb. 9 and ended after midnight. Three Strongsville officers were involved in the pursuit that was later called off.
Police report a black Buick, that was entered as stolen by the Euclid Police Department, with two occupants was traveling around 100 miles per hour on northbound Pearl Road down the hill from Boston Road. The vehicle passed Shurmer Road at 100 mph and was swerving all over the road. The vehicle picked up speed and passed Falling Water Road at 105 mph.
The driver of the Buick got on northbound I-71. Middleburg Heights and Brook Park police departments, and the Metroparks were advised as the car passed the Ohio Turnpike.
The Buick was traveling between 110 and 115 mph as the car approached W. 130th Street. The Cleveland Police Department was advised. Stop sticks were deployed.
The pursuit was terminated at Steelyard Commons. The Ohio State Highway Patrol advised they found the abandoned vehicle on W. 58th Street north of Dennison Avenue against a telephone pole.
Troopers and a K9 were in foot pursuit of the occupants on W. 56th Street. Sherob Anderson, 18, was detained and returned to the Strongsville jail. The other occupant remains at large. There are no leads, according to Strongsville Police Chief Mark Fender.
A substance found in the car is being tested. Anderson remains in the Strongsville city jail. He has been charged with receiving stolen property, a felony of the fourth degree. The case has been forwarded to the prosecutor for review and additional charges.
