WADSWORTH – Last year, the Wadsworth Drug Free Community Coalition printed resource guides to assist individuals dealing with addiction or their loved ones to find the help they needed. With some new resources available, the organization knew they needed to update these guides.

“The revamped resource guides are headed to the printer today,” said Tina Heiberg, a member of WDFCC. “They will be available for the public again by the end of this month.”

Heiberg said the guides can be found inside City Hall, at Wadsworth Community Radio, in the counseling and resources offices at Wadsworth City Schools, at several pharmacies and doctor’s offices in town, the YMCA, Soprema Senior Center, city fire stations, Main Street Wadsworth and Chamber of Commerce offices, the Salvation Army, LCADA Way – Wadsworth and some of the churches in town. All police officers carry the resource guides and the WDFCC attends community events throughout the year where they set up a table and offer resource guides.

Heiberg said there are several notable additions to the new resource guides.

One new section is “Talk with Recovering Addicts.”

“This category has a list of four names (male and female) plus phone numbers so someone in need can talk with a recovering addict – someone who understands what that person is going through,” she said. “I think this may be the most vital life-saving addition.”

Heiberg also added the back panel of the guide is dedicated to the Wadsworth Recovery Connection, a volunteer hotline which connects addicts with resources for needed help such as detox and trusted rehab facilities. It can also answer some financial and insurance questions. It is staffed Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The brochure also includes information about Bianco Accommodations, which now includes a sober living environment for women also. Also in the brochure is information about group meetings with updated days and locations of the meetings. There is also information about the app, Ascent. WDFCC is looking into sponsoring a few people to get and use this app. Information about it is attached in the new resource guide.
