North Royalton Police
Feb. 3 – A car drove into a State Road gas station building just before 11 p.m. One of the glass sliding doors and the window to the left were smashed out. In front of the damage was a blue 2010 Mercedes. The owner of the vehicle, Eugene Voziyan, was standing outside the vehicle and smoking a cigar when officers arrived. Voziyan stated he accidentally put the car in drive instead of park and drove into the building. He said he only had one beer. Field sobriety tests were administered. Voziyan blew a .20 on the BAC. He was arrested for OVI following a poor performance, the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, unsteadiness on his feet, stating that he had been drinking and driving into a building.
North Royalton Police
Feb. 5 – A female stated her daughter showed her social media posts regarding a juvenile wanting to hurt other students at the middle school. One of the posts allegedly said, “Everyone that hurts me deserves to die. It’s going to be fun.” The male who made this post also stated he has a knife in his locker.
Feb. 4 – A female was having a dispute with her condo association regarding her dogs going to the bathroom on the lawn. The complainant said she uses a stake with a leash to allow the dogs to roam. The association told her she was not allowed to do this. The complainant was advised this was a civil issue.
Feb. 3 – An officer attempted to stop a silver Ford Explorer on state Route 3 around 9:30 p.m. The driver, Joseph R. Cunningham, has not had a driver’s license since 2000 and also has multiple suspensions. After the officer activated his lights and siren, Cunningham allegedly drove into a private parking lot north of Creekwood Drive, drove across grass and between trees separating two properties, and continued west on Creekwood. The officer pursued Cunningham to his residence on Creekwood and arrived as the garage door was going up. The officer secured the running vehicle and waited for backup units to arrive. Cunningham was arrested without incident and transported to the North Royalton city jail. Citations were issued to Cunningham and to Melissa D. Stanzak, the vehicle’s owner, for wrongful entrustment.
Feb. 1 – A vehicle crashed on Edgerton Road approximately 1,000 feet from W. 130th Street around 4:50 p.m. An elderly male was standing next to the truck bed with tree branches surround him upon an officer’s arrival. Edward J. Blunt, 79, of North Royalton, stated he was coming home from his place of employment in Garfield Heights. The officer noticed that Blunt had glossy eyes and could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage. Blunt admitted to having consumed several beers. North Royalton firemedics transported Blunt to a hospital for treatment.
Feb. 1 – A silver Chevy Silverado was pulled over for speeding on Abbey Road at 3:50 a.m. The driver, Nathaniel T. Crampton, explained he was coming from work. During a consent search of the truck, an officer allegedly located a clear plastic cigarette wrapper filled with a small amount of a green leafy vegetable substance that reeked of a pungent stench of marijuana. The officer also located a black box underneath the center console that contained two joints, two packs of rolling papers and several pieces of a green leafy vegetable substance. Crampton was placed under arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia, drug abuse and speeding.
Jan. 31 – An alleged theft took place from the porch of a Kingston Way residence. Inside the package was a Green Bay Packers fleece valued at $39, a Packers hoodie valued at $44, two Packers T-shirts valued at $47 and two Packers pacifiers valued at $8.
Jan. 30 – An officer was dispatched to a Wallings Road property where a dog had been shot with a .22 caliber gun. John Scordos, the boxer’s owner, pointed out his pet’s tracks in the snow. An officer asked the neighbor, Anthony Fondale, about the gunshots. Fondale responded he had two coyotes in his backyard so he shot his rifle at the animals. Fondale stated he would never have shot at his neighbor’s dog. An officer observed the boxer’s tracks meeting those of the coyotes. An officer spoke to Scordos on Jan. 31. Upon further examination Scordos did not feel his dog was shot, but thought his dog had multiple bite marks from a coyote.
Jan. 30 – An officer transported Wyatt Thomas from Parma Municipal Court to the Cuyahoga County Jail for a North Royalton criminal case. Thomas requested that his wallet be taken into booking so he could put money on his account. When the officer opened he wallet, Thomas had $130, which consisted of $100, $20 and $10 bills. He also had 14 counterfeit $100 bills. The fake bills were confiscated and a report was forwarded to the detective bureau for follow-up.
Jan. 30 – A search of a vehicle pulled over on Royalton Road revealed a small pistol loaded with live ammunition in the center console along with marijuana. The driver, Antwon Slaughter, was handcuffed. It was discovered that Slaughter has a prior conviction for aggravated robbery from the Cleveland Police Department and one for conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery from the Lakewood Police Department. Due to these convictions Slaughter is unable to possess a firearm. Slaughter had $874 on his person. Due to the large amount of cash, the presence of two cell phones, a firearm and a large amount of felony controlled substance, the officer felt Slaughter was trafficking in drugs. Slaughter was charged with having weapons under disability, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, aggravated trafficking in drugs, aggravated possession of a controlled substance, possession of criminal tools, drug abuse, driving under suspension, obstructed plate and weaving.
