NORTH ROYALTON – Yet another business has been plagued by a break-in.
Hollywood Hounds Pet Spa, located at 10019 West 130th Street, is the latest victim, this time of a what’s known as a “smash and grab.”
The call came in at 5:04 a.m. Feb. 3, reporting the front window of the business had been smashed and money taken.
“The suspect reached in, pried open a cash register, took start-up money and a donation jar that was in the same vicinity, less than $200,” Detective Dave Loeding said.
There have been no arrests made in the case, however, police are reviewing security footage that has captured a vehicle on tape. No further details are being released just yet.
“We’re still investigating and scrutinizing the footage,” Loeding said.
North Royalton has experienced a few break-ins the past month.
Accurate Arms and Armor, located at 6834 Bunker Road, was broken into Dec. 27 and seven rifles and one handgun are believed to have been stolen, a case that’s still under investigation.
Drug Mart, located at 5500 Wallings Road, was broken into Jan. 3, and hundreds of dollars worth of cigarettes were taken. This break-in was related to the Joe D’s Beverage break-in that occurred five days later across the street at 5259 Wallings on Jan. 8.
Precious Johnson, 42, William “Markeith” Smith, 41, and Reneford Washington, 51, were arrested shortly after the incident after a witness, who happened to be an off-duty officer with another police agency, spotted the crime in progress and reported it. Just over $1,600 worth of alcohol and cigarettes were taken and returned to Joe D’s.
All three were indicted for Joe D’s, and Johnson and Smith were also indicted for their alleged involvement in the Drug Mart theft.
