To the Editor:
As some of the residents of this fine city may not realize, the governor tried to tax us on our cable usage on top of local taxes we are already paying. The governor’s budget plan included a proposal to charge sales tax on cable TV, which is already subject to local franchise fees. It was going to be double taxation.
Thanks to consumers like you and your neighbors, legislators heard the strong opposition and acted to stop the new taxes. Now a conference committee is working on the budget and they need to be asked to continue standing up for consumers and not enact a new sales tax on cable service. Thanks goes to your state legislator for standing up for consumers against higher taxes.
