North Royalton Police
Feb. 25 – A vehicle was pulled over on West 130th Street for speeding and weaving at 3:30 a.m. The driver, James Dixon, reported his passenger had been drinking and was why the man was slumped over. Dixon also allegedly appeared intoxicated and was arrested for OVI. After arresting Dixon, the passenger, Darrin Tucker, allegedly had to be ordered several times to get out of the vehicle and tried to retrieve a phone from his pocket despite order to keep his hands out. While being arrested for obstructing official business, the man allegedly tried to wedge his foot in the cruiser door. Dixon was charged with OVI and cited for speed, left of center, failure to dim highbeams and weaving. Tucker, who was the vehicle owner, was charged with false display of disabled placard after a stolen one was allegedly found in the vehicle, seatbelt, wrongful entrustment, obstructing official business, failure to disclose personal information and resisting arrest.

Feb. 26 – An officer had stopped two vehicle at a York Road address at 2:42 a.m. The driver of one of the vehicles, Melanie Marusa, 18, of Broadview Heights, allegedly had a jar of marijuana in her vehicle along with an Adderall pill she was not prescribed in her purse. She was arrested and charged with underage consumption, drug abuse, possession of paraphernalia and a felony drug possession for the Adderall.
Feb. 26 – A Walnut Hills Drive woman reported a loud party going on downstairs in her building around 12:30 a.m., with screaming and people peeing off the balcony. Upon arrival by officers, the occupants refused to answer the door, but everything was quiet.
Feb. 25 – A vehicle was stopped for going 60 in a 45 mph zone on Ridge Road near Cady Road at 7:40 p.m. The driver, Leonard Kucharski III, of Parma, allegedly handed the officer a blunt and bottle filled with marijuana. He was cited for speed and drug abuse.
Feb. 25 – A man reported his son set a smartphone on a parked car in their driveway on Yorkview Drive around 4 p.m. The son realized the phone was missing a few hours later and suspects the phone may have fallen off the vehicle while it was in motion. The phone was pinged to an apartment complex in Middleburg Heights, but a message sent to the phone was not returned.
Feb. 24 – Someone had seen an all-terrain vehicle get stuck in the mud on Waterbridge Drive around 6:45 p.m. A man and girl were standing next to it and reportedly had gotten the vehicle free from the mud. The male, Brent Bucci of Waterbridge Drive, reported he and his daughter were taking the vehicle for a ride and thought the Metroparks owned the property. He was cited for trespassing.
Feb. 22 – A vehicle was stopped on York Road for drifting off the road at 4:40 a.m. The driver, Kevin Karp, of Middleburg Heights, allegedly had a pipe in his glovebox with burnt marijuana inside. He was cited for marked lanes, drug abuse and possession of paraphernalia.
Feb. 22 – A vehicle was pulled over for speeding and driving over the center line at Albion and Abbey roads at 1:19 a.m. The driver, William Hurt Jr., of North Ridgeville, was arrested for OVI after failing sobriety tests and cited for speed, left of center and improper display of plates.
Feb. 19 – A Padua Drive man reported his brother had left the residence in his vehicle while intoxicated around 4:10 p.m. The brother reportedly returned home and left about 90 minutes later. An officer went to the residence, and the man, Derek Porvasnik, was found and arrested for OVI after failing sobriety tests.
Strongsville Police
Feb. 26 – Approximately four juveniles were building a tree fort in a wooded area behind a Currier Drive property. The subjects were advised this was private property and were asked to leave.
Feb. 26 – A male stated that two elderly males got out of their vehicle and pounded on his windshield while waiting for the light to turn on eastbound state Route 82 near the mall. The complainant picked up his cell phone and the subjects got back in their car and took off. A second caller stated the subjects entered the Costco Plaza and walked into Costco.
Feb. 26 – A female in her 60s had her leg stuck between her vehicle and a pump at a Pearl Road gas station. The female was extricated and transported to a hospital.
Feb. 19 – A male reported he left his 2015 Dodge Dart idling in front of a Pearl Road store, went inside to get food and when he returned the car was gone. The complainant stated he had a house arrest monitor in a bag on the front seat. The vehicle was entered as stolen. The monitoring agency advised that the vehicle pinged in the area of W. 76th Street and Elton Court and then Colgate Avenue near W. 73rd Street in Cleveland. Cleveland Police advised they could not locate the vehicle.
Feb. 26 – A bathroom ceiling fan at a Whitney Road apartment caught fire with black smoke and flames visible. The caller was attempting to put out the fire with water. Dispatch advised the caller to evacuate the building and pull the fire alarm on the way out. There was a small electrical fire in a bathroom vent.
Feb. 26 – A female caller stated there were three teenagers, one of whom threw a frozen can of root beer at her Beechwood Lane garage just after 1 a.m. The complainant said the teens were on the other side of the street throwing things at houses. Another Beechwood Lane resident called at 1:41 a.m. and reported she heard a noise and found a mailbox post in her yard.
Feb. 25 — A female left work at 1:10 a.m. and found the back window of her car was broken. She did not believe anything was taken. A blanket covering books on the back seat was not disturbed.
Feb. 25 — Damage was done to four mailboxes on Sherwood Drive. An officer checked the area due to a “litany” of mailboxes damaged in the area. There was also a turfed lawn on Sandalwood.
Feb. 25 — A male was walking on Drake Road waving his hands and talking to himself. Per an officer. The subject was a jogger who psyches himself up during his run.
Feb. 24 — A male knocked on the door of a Bear Creek Lane home. When the homeowner answered the door, the subject walked inside and stated he was there to bless the home. He then said he had the wrong house and drove down the street to another home.
Feb. 22 – A 7-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed by an 8-year-old male several times in his shoulder and upper back during music class. The 7-year-old’s mother stated the 8-year-old is a known bully.
