Cleveland Clinic Akron General's Bariatric Center offering free information sessions

AKRON – If you or someone you love is considering weight-loss options, make plans to attend a free information session on weight-loss surgery hosted by Cleveland Clinic Akron General’s Bariatric Center on Jan. 24 or Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. at Akron General, Boardroom, 1 Akron General Ave., Akron.
Led by Bariatric Surgeons Walter Chlysta, M.D., FACS, and Christopher Daigle, M.D., each session will give an overview of the different types of weight-loss surgeries offered, who may qualify and the support provided by Akron General’s Bariatric Center before and after surgery. In addition, attendees will hear about the patient journey first-hand from post-operative patients and an insurance coordinator will be on hand to answer any questions regarding coverage, eligibility and average cost. Obesity is more than a weight issue – it’s a health issue with long-term effects, including heart disease, diabetes, stroke and certain types of cancer. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate that more than 35 percent of Americans are obese and that percentage is projected to grow over the next few years.
