Woodland Sunrise Rotarians gathered to beautify and enhance the patio and garden area adjacent to the Generations wing of the Californian Assisted Living and Dementia Care facility on Saturday, Oct. 11.
Together with the Californians’ residents and staff, the Rotarians prepared soil in numerous planter boxes and pots, creating a welcoming gardening space. Under the guidance of UCD Master Gardener Judith Riegel, the team planted a variety of colorful, drought-tolerant perennials chosen for their resilience and beauty. In addition to these plants, vibrant succulents were added to the garden. Compost donated by Woodland Community College’s Agriculture Department was incorporated into the soil to enrich it, supporting healthy plant growth.
This collaborative effort not only beautified a key outdoor area for the residents but also provided a therapeutic and engaging activity for the community. Projects like this highlight Woodland Sunrise Rotary’s commitment to fostering community love, enhancing adult healthcare environments, and making impactful contributions to local quality of life.
