Plan B is growing wings! This is voters’ mental abuse!
To the Editor:
What a waste of time and money, after five failures, let’s try again for a sixth? Anyone has any idea why these failures? Who let these school facilities get in such bad shape? Is it possible that this community can’t afford $270 million in bonds for the next 30 years, plus more bonds coming with no end in sight? Have you asked local small businesses what the bottom line on their W-2 form looks like? The few small businesses that remain – the one’s that haven’t closed their doors yet. How about people struggling to make ends meet and the senior sector without an increase in anything during the last administration? The cost of the “bond” is not $90 million; with interest over 30 years it’s about three times in the $90 millions. If this number is wrong, please feel free to tell this community what it is.
Now you’re resorting to threats. Plan B is growing wings, is anybody listening? Does anybody care what you’re saying? For your fifth try, you hired consultants to tell you what you already knew. You even have resorted to have a couple students tell us story about the stadium (another bond until 2040; $200,000 per year for 30 years from the building fund costing us $6 million to repay a $2 million bond). Last week’s letter to The Post newspaper from the other young man tells us that he has adopted President Lincoln’s motto, “I shall prepare myself and my chance will come.” While he didn’t thank us for the benefits he’s receiving from our tax dollars and the efforts of his teachers, maybe he wants to thank President Trump for bringing jobs back to our country.
The “echo chamber” keeps repeating the same story: pass the bond to increase our property value. I don’t want my property value to increase, because my property tax will increase as well! And what’s the problem with school children walking? Our students are spending way too much time in a sedentary position punching virtual keyboards and playing with the mouse, if this continues these kids will have both knees replaced by age 45, if not sooner!
We have a new sheriff in town, claiming that while our schools are flush with money, our children are not benefiting from it. Where is the money going? Rather than mentally abusing the voters of this community, listening to the new president and vice president of the echo chamber condescendingly berating us, bordering on mental fatigue, why not wait and see if you need these repairs and/or new buildings? From all indications, the new administration in Washington has no use for public schools. By the time the new Secretary of Education gets done privatizing public education, through charter schools, home schooling, parochial schooling, school vouchers and virtual education, to allow parents – regardless of their zip code – the ability to educate their children as they see fit rather than having somebody from Texas set school curriculum in Ohio, and dictate who is allowed to use your daughter’s bathroom, you may have no use for your envisioned edifices…
