Cleveland Clinic purchases new gamma detection system
AKRON– The Cleveland Clinic Akron General Foundation has received a donation of $63,125 from the Walter W. Born Foundation to purchase an additional gamma detection system.

Patients benefitting from this equipment either have a cancer diagnosis or will have surgery to diagnose cancer. The gamma detection system provides highly-accurate localization of targeted tissue for surgeons performing intra-operative gamma detection. Akron General performs more than 300 oncologic gynecology and breast cancer surgeries each year.
