Wadsworth Police Department
Aug. 7 – Police officers responded to Interstate 76 westbound near state Route 94 at approximately 7:30 p.m. in reference to a report of three individuals walking along the highway. The individuals were located and identified. Two of them, Bryan Maloney, 41, of Akron and Scarlett Wilson, 41, of Akron each had active warrants out of Strongsville. They were arrested without incident.
Wadsworth Police Department
Aug. 11 – Police officers took a report from a resident in the 100 block of Main Street in reference to a theft. The matter is under investigation.
Aug. 11 – An East Walnut Street resident reported an incident of telecommunications harassment. The matter is under investigation.
Aug. 11 – Police officers took a theft report from the YMCA. The matter is being investigated.
Aug. 10 – Police officers responded to the 100 block of Main Street at approximately 10:45 a.m. in reference to a criminal damaging report.
Aug. 10 – Police officers initiated a traffic stop on Silvercrest Road near Silvercreek Road just before midnight. Following an investigation the driver, Andrew Starr, 23, of Barberton, was issued a minor misdemeanor citation for drug paraphernalia.
Aug. 10 – A woman reported that her car was damaged while it was parked on Great Oaks Trail at approximately 8 p.m. The case is under investigation.
Aug. 9 – Police officers responded to a 911 call from Takacs Drive in reference to a 25-year-old woman who was unresponsive from an apparent drug overdose. Officers pulled the unresponsive woman from a vehicle and administered two doses of Narcan. EMS arrived and took over treatment. The woman became responsive at the time she was transported to the hospital. The incident is under further investigation.
Aug. 9 – A Wadsworth resident called the police department shortly before 7 p.m. concerned about the way a juvenile was treating a cat at Holmesbrook Park. Officers responded and made contact with all parties involved. An investigation is ongoing and a report will be forwarded to the prosecutor for review.
Aug. 8 – The police department took a report about the theft of two cell phones from the 1000 block of Seville Road. The case is under investigation.
Aug. 8 – While investigating a separate incident in the 800 block of High Street, police officers discovered that one of the witnesses, Gary Talbot, 46, of Aurora, had an active warrant through North Royalton. He was arrested without incident and released to North Royalton police.
Aug. 7 – Police officers took a report about a dog biting a person in the 200 block of Third Street at approximately 12:20 p.m.
Aug. 7 – Police officers responded to the 1000 block of Williams Reserve Boulevard shortly before 7 p.m. in reference to a possible assault. An investigation is ongoing.
Aug. 6 – Police officers responded to the skate park inside Valley View Park at approximately 6 p.m. in reference to a report of several teenagers smoking marijuana. Officers observed one of the teens and after a brief investigation recovered marijuana and several marijuana paraphernalia items. The suspect, Xavier Barbarosa, 19, was cited and released and the group of teens was advised not to return to the skate park or they would be charged with trespassing.
Aug. 6 – Police officers initiated a traffic stop on Interstate 76 eastbound shortly after midnight. After an investigation the driver, Joshua Meyers, 20, of Akron, was charged with OVI and underage alcohol consumption. He was also charged with endangering children as there was a seven month old child in the car with him. The child was released to a relative and Meyers was transported to the Medina County Jail.
Aug. 5 – Police officers stopped a vehicle on College Street at approximately 8:45 p.m. because the owner was suspected of driving on a suspended license. Officers arrested the driver, William Nelson, 23, of Highland Avenue. Suspected drugs were also found in the vehicle.
Rittman Police Department
Aug. 4 – Officers went to the Grant Street area to look for a man and woman suspected to be involved in a drug deal. An officer spotted them and saw them walk to an Ohio Avenue business. The woman went inside and the man walked around to the back. The officer recognized the woman, April Pennick, 33, of Rittman, as having a warrant against her. The woman allegedly admitted she had just gotten a small amount of methamphetamine from the man. Police didn’t find him but arrested her and turned her over to Medina County deputies. The suspected meth was sent to a lab for testing.
Aug. 3 – Officers went to a Main Street address looking for Bobby Collins, 31, of Rittman, wanted on three outstanding warrants, two for failure to appear in court on disorderly conduct charges and one for possession of drug abuse instruments. Police found Collins and arrested him. Officers allegedly noticed then that he was acting strangely and reportedly saw a white powder fall out of his mouth as he spoke. Police say he admitted to chewing two prescription pain pills. Police also arrested Ronald Nixon, 56, of Wooster, at the house when he gave them a pack of cigarettes that allegedly had two more pain pills and suspected methamphetamine.
Aug. 3 – An officer allegedly found a 30-year-old Rittman man who appeared to be under the influence of methamphetamine in the middle of Main Street around 10 p.m. The officer reportedly spotted the orange cap of a syringe sticking out of his pocket and the man allegedly admitted it was for heroin. He also admitted to being with a woman who overdosed on heroin earlier in the day on Salt Street. Police say he turned over some prescription pain medication that didn’t belong to him. Charges were pending.
Aug. 3 – An officer responded to the Rittman football field when witnesses reported a man running around acting strangely, possibly having a seizure. Adam Hanlon, 27, was allegedly running around in circles and jumping up and down. He reportedly admitted to taking methamphetamine about an hour earlier and “just needed to run.” Paramedics checked him over and he was released to a relative with a citation for disorderly conduct.
April 3 – Police went to a Salt Street residence around 8 a.m. for a report of an unconscious woman in the yard. The officer April Pennick, 33, of Rittman was lying on her back, not breathing, with her skin turning blue. He gave her naloxone and she started breathing and came around. She was taken to Summa Wadsworth Rittman Hospital with a citation for disorderly conduct. Police also noted she had a warrant against her from Medina County.
Aug. 1 – A 63-year-old Marry Street woman reported that someone stole her prescription medication that she normally keeps in her purse. She suspects family members went into her house while it was unattended.
