Police discover car, plates were stolen
Wadsworth Police Department

June 22 – Police officers stopped a vehicle in the area of Interstate 76 and state Route 57 at approximately 8 p.m. Officers determined that the vehicle and the plates were stolen. The driver, a 38-year-old Peninsula man, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property. Additional charges are pending.

Wadsworth Police Department

June 23 – Police officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on State Street near L Street at approximately 1:20 a.m. The driver, a 55-year-old College Street man, was arrested and charged with OVI. He was also issued a minor misdemeanor citation for possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

June 23 – Police officers were called to the 100 block of East Prospect Street shortly after midnight in reference to a report of a domestic fight in a driveway. After an investigation, a 23-year-old female resident of the house was arrested and charged with domestic violence.

June 22 – Police officers made a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1000 block of High Street at approximately 11:30 a.m. The driver was allegedly driving under suspension. He was cited and released. Police officers also learned that the passenger, a 29-year-old Barberton man, had a warrant out of the Barberton Police Department. He was arrested and transported to a Barberton police officer.

June 22 – A resident from Reedy Drive reported an incident of identity fraud. The case is under investigation.

June 22 – Police officers spoke with an employee at a Johnson Road residential facility about an ongoing issue with harassing phone calls.

June 22 – An employee from a business in the 300 block of Main Street reported someone had passed two counterfeit bills in the past two days. The bills were not discovered until after the suspect left the scene. Charges are pending further investigation.

June 22 – Police officers received a report about a possible vandalism on Hidden Valley Drive. The incident is under investigation.

June 22 – Police officers were dispatched to the area of Memorial Park at approximately 7 p.m. in reference to a report of a fight in progress. The parties were separated after police arrived and after an investigation, a 23-year-old man was cited with disorderly conduct.

June 21 – Police officers were dispatched to the area of state Route 57 and Seville Road at approximately 4 p.m. in reference to a report of an accident. The driver of one of the vehicles, a 25-year-old West Bergey Street man, was arrested and charged with OVI.

June 21 – Police officers responded to the 100 block of Humbolt Avenue at approximately 8:15 a.m. in reference to a report of criminal damaging.

June 20 – Police officers responded to the 300 block of Broad Street at approximately 11 p.m. in reference to a report of a domestic dispute that involved an assault. After an investigation, a 28-year-old woman was arrested and charged with domestic violence.

June 20 – Police officers received a report about a theft that occurred in the 100 block of Simcox Street. The matter is under investigation.

June 20 – Police officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on East Walnut Street shortly after 11 p.m. The driver, a 45-year-old Main Street man, was arrested and charged with OVI.

June 19 – Police officers responded to the 100 block of East Walnut Street at approximately 8:15 p.m. in reference to a report of a theft offense. No charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.

June 18 – Police officers receive a report about a vehicle that was stopped at a stop sign on Westwood Drive where the driver appeared to be unconscious. After an investigation the driver was not charged.

June 17 – A First Street resident reported that someone took his prescription medication from his vehicle. A report was taken and the incident is under investigation.

June 17 – Police officers received a report about a possible drunk driver in the area of Park Center Drive at approximately 1:30 a.m. The vehicle was stopped and after a brief investigation the driver, a 59-year-old Reimer Road man, was arrested and charged with OVI and failure to control.

June 17 – The police department received a report about a vehicle that was possibly stolen from a business on Broad Street. The vehicle was located and the owner was notified.

June 16 – Police officers made a traffic stop on a vehicle on East Bergey Street at approximately 8:45 p.m. Officers reported finding illegal drugs inside of the vehicle. Charges are pending. The driver, a 33-year-old Barberton man, was arrested on a felony warrant out of Barberton.

June 16 – Police officers received a report about money being stolen from a checking account. The matter is under investigation.

Norton Police Department

June 16 – An officer pulled a car over on Barber Road around 1 a.m. when a check revealed the registered owner had a suspended license. The driver was a 17-year-old boy who said he was on his way home to Barberton and knew it was past curfew. The officer allegedly smelled marijuana and found a digital scale with marijuana traces on it. He reportedly said he used it for both pot and weighing fish bait. He was escorted home where the officer had a conversation with his mother and gave him a summons for paraphernalia.

June 16 – An officer stopped a man walking on Noble Street with a dog that had no leash, collar or tags. The officer warned the man about the dog laws and got consent to pat him down. In his pocket, they allegedly found a box with a pot leaf stenciled on it and marijuana residue inside. In his backpack, reportedly, was a glass pipe with white powder. Police say he told them neither belonged to him. Shawn A. Tandarich, 36, was cited for paraphernalia.

June 15 – A man called police to report he’d seen a group of people walking around 3:30 a.m. on Cleveland-Massillon Road and stopped to ask if they needed help. He said they spewed obscenities at him, so he called police to check on them. Officers found them and they denied using profanity, but then added the caller asked one of the women for a sexual favor and her negative reply did include an expletive. Police checked identification and found one of the men and one of the women each had misdemeanor bench warrants, one from Cuyahoga Falls and the other from Streetsboro. Regina J. Lane, 48 and Joseph Benjamin Hall, 32, were arrested. Police allegedly found a bindle of paper with white powder and burnt foil with residue where Lane had been sitting. The powder reportedly field tested positive for methamphetamine and Lane was charged with paraphernalia felony drug possession and taken to the Summit County Jail. Hall was delivered to Cuyahoga Falls Police on his warrant.

June 15 – A Summit Road boy found a bicycle at the rear of the family’s property. His mother turned it over to the police, who tagged it for safekeeping until its owner was found.
