Albert H. Schroeder
Albert Henry Schroeder, 95, of Chatham, passed away March 18, 2017 at Life Care Center in Medina.
He was born in Cleveland on March 27, 1921 to Walter and Martha (Egner) Schroeder.
He graduated from Spencer High School and worked as a mechanic for a short time before entering the U.S. Army Air Corp in 1944.
Albert was stationed in the Philippines as a P-38 fighter pilot. He was in numerous battles and campaigns in the Southern Philippines, Luzon, Borneo, New Guinea and the Western Pacific. Following his military service he returned home and married Jean Arnold on Oct. 20, 1946.
He continued working as a mechanic at the former Town Hill, and City Auto Service in Medina. He was the former chief of the Chatham Fire Department, and member of Chatham Community Church.
He is survived by three daughters, Linda (Ron) Emhoff of Seattle, Wash., Julie (Wes) Emch of Seville and Marti (James) Brenza of Delaware, Ohio; two sons, Mike (Mary Ann) Schroeder of Londonderry, N.H. and Guy Schroeder of Chatham; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Smith of Medina; and brothers, Walter Schroeder Jr. of Medina and Lawrence (Alice) Schroeder of Chatham.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, in 2014; sisters, Martha Ferrell and Ruth Echle; brother, Robert; and grandson, Luke Emch.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a local volunteer fire department. Parker Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
