Fire chief pleased with check off system for fleet
Vehicles checked for critical, non-critical needs

HINCKLEY – Fire Chief Mel Morgan is pleased with a new system which entails firefighter/chief engineer Ron Mack doing a weekly check off of the department’s vehicles. Mack inspects vehicles for both critical and non-critical needs. With the year winding down, Morgan said the department has been able to complete critical repairs and can move onto smaller repairs.

“Mack really did a wonderful job getting all the vehicles up to specifications with many of the repairs being made by Mack and department members resulting in a cost savings,” said Morgan. “We will continue with repair of non-critical items, as well as the check off system, in the coming year.”

That being said, trustees approved repair to ambulance 37 by Gateway Tire and Service at a cost of $1,429.98.

Police Chief Tim Kalavsky also had news at the Nov. 14 trustee meeting asking trustees to promote Ptl. Jim Goff from part-time to full time. Kalavsky said Goff is not an addition to the department but a replacement for Officer Chris Millhorn who left the department about three years ago and was not replaced. Kalavsky said it was important to bring another officer on to not only replace Millhorn but also to cover for an officer who is on temporary sick leave and a probable retirement of another officer in the near future.
