To the Editor:
Joe Salzgeber, Republican candidate for judge, Medina Municipal Court, has seen both sides of the aisle in over 20 years of being a tough prosecutor and then private practice attorney, the only candidate with his law office in Medina County. Joe understands the people and circumstances specific to our county.
Medina Municipal Court handles criminal, traffic, OVI/DUI and some civil cases. Since this is the very local court most county voters will visit some time in their driving life, it makes sense to come out and vote on May 2 because this election of a new judge and new clerk of Medina Municipal Court may concern you!
Joe would create a specialized drug court docket for the misdemeanor drug-addicted folks, create a specialized veterans’ court docket and work with mayor and council to either construct or remodel the courthouse and parking areas at “a reasonable cost.”
Also priding himself for working within a budget, Tom Decker, Republican candidate for Clerk of Medina Municipal Court, has pledged to make the experience of coming in to pay a traffic ticket as painless as can be. With a background in law enforcement, business management of staff and operations and an expert in courtroom security, he also has plans for customer service improvements and will switch from the last century to this century in business practices.
With Judge Chase retiring, Republicans have the opportunity to elect Joe Salzgeber for Judge and Tom Decker for Clerk. The men work well together and possess the even temperament needed when working with diverse populations. Because I’ve known both Joe and Tom for years, I know voters will also be impressed with their character, work ethic and experience.
Yes, the ubiquitous dandelions and orange barrels shout that it’s spring, but the usual political signs are sparse. Thus, it is even more important to remind Republicans that the May 2 primary is just days away and voting for local candidates is just as important as voting for national ones. Please mark your calendars to vote Tuesday, May 2 for Joe for Judge and Tom for Clerk. This way, you can make Medina Municipal Court and its Clerk’s Office forward-moving and accountable.
