Mainzer, Petrilla are February Students of the Month
Amelia Manzier

Highland High School seniors Amelia Mainzer and Christopher Petrilla are the Medina County Kiwanis February Students of the Month.

Manzier is the president of Hinckley 4-H Club, president of the Medina County Jr. Fair Board, hornet mentoring club leader, president of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) and a participant in the Ohio Youth Capital Challenge.

She has participated on the speech and debate team for the past four years in the categories of prose poetry, humorous interpretation and duo interpretation.

She has qualified for the state tournament and selected as an alternate to the national tournament for the past two years. She is the founder of the Highland Book Club, as well as a member of the National Honor Society, sinfonia orchestra and track team.

Additionally, she was a member of the Homecoming Court as selected by a panel of teachers.

She is the daughter of Doug and Julie Mainzer of Hinckley Township. She plans to major in adolescent to youth adult teaching upon her graduation from Highland.

Petrilla currently serves as a peer leader and is a member of the National Honor Society and St. Baldrick’s Committee.

He was a Highland Youth Football Camp volunteer and worked at the Eugene Petrilla Summa Health Center.

He also volunteered his time to help construct the Granger baseball field. Petrilla is a four-year varsity football player, three-year varsity baseball player and one-year track and field participant.

He received the Freshman Pride Award and Scholar Athlete Award.

He is the son of Eugene and Maryann Petrilla of Sharon Township. He plans to attend the Ohio State University following graduation.
